Petra Nemcova is a famous fashion model. She was born on 24 June 1979 in Karvina in Czech Republic. Petra Nemcova is also called the "Czech Chick”. Petra Nemcova comes from a background that has nothing to do with the glamour world. Petra Nemcova’s father was a bricklayer. Her mother was a teacher.
In the year 2004, Petra and her British Photographer boyfriend Simon Atlee were caught up in the devastating Tsunami in Thailand. At that time Petra Nemcova and her boyfriend were on a holiday in a Thai resort of Khao Lak. Petra Nemcova had to hang on a tree for eight hours while water was gushing by. In the accident she survived but broke her pelvis and suffered several severe internal injuries. Simon Atlee went missing in the accident and still no news of his survival has ever received. Petra Nemcova was shuddered by the accident of Tsunami. She posed from the hospital bed in US so that funds could be raised for Tsunami hit people. Petra Nemcova started a Happy Hearts Fund to provide help to tragedy-affected kids in Asia. A Glamour magazine awarded Petra Nemcova a “Survivor Award" for the tsunami disaster.
Petra Nemcova wrote a book called Love Always, Petra, in which she tells about her early childhood times in Czech Republic. She tells about the communist rule in the country. She shares her experience in the glamour world and how she became a super model from a small town girl. She has written about her love for her boyfriend Simon Atlee, how they fell in love and were about to get married before the Tsunami ordeal happened.
Petra Nemcova came into the world of fashion when she participated in a national talent search. A modeling scout discovered her on the streets of Czech Republic. Ever since, she was spotted, she became a hot favorite of many fashion magazines and advertisements. She did number of photo shoots and commercials that made her a known face. She was on the cover page of the 2003 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She has also modeled for the Victoria's Secret and various other famous women’s clothing brands in the market. She modeled for the pages of Elle, Harper's Bazaar. She also appeared in a French film called ‘Absolument fabuleux’ in the year 2001. Her co-star in the film was Marie Gillain. She became so popular that she was also invited to become the judge in the annual Miss Universe competition in Quito, Ecuador in the year 2004.
Petra Nemcova appeared on the American TV on the Late show with Craig Kilborn. In the same show, the host Craig Kilborn predicted that she would feature on the 2003 Sports Swimsuit Issue, which came out to be right.
