Eva Mendes, an American actress was born on March 5, 1974 in Miami, Florida. Her parents were Cuban-American by origin but she was raised by her mother in Los Angeles after her parents got divorced. Her father is a car salesman and her mother is the principal of an elementary school. She has a sister called Janet who is living in Los Angeles. According to Eva Mendes, her mother had to suffer a lot in order to bring her up. Previously she was aspired to be a nun as she had a Catholic upbringing.
She got her education from Hoover High School in Glendale, California. Her higher studies were completed in California State University, Northridge where she studied Marketing but after she met her love Zedrick Threatt she left her higher studies. Zedrick Threatt helped Eva Mendes to start her career in the acting world. She was a co student with Ivana Chubbuck. She began her acting career in the late 1990’s and became very popular after few major roles in the Hollywood films including 2 Fast 2 Furious and Hitch.

Eva Mendes started her career from commercials to music videos. She first appeared in the video “Miami” along with Will Smith . Eva Mendes also appeared in music videos like Pet Shop Boys in 1996 and Hole in My Soul by Aerosmith in 1997. In the beginning her career started guest appearances in many Television soaps and supporting roles in some films. The first break she got on screen was in the film Training Day. This film won many awards and was critically appreciated. After this film she got breaks in many other films and gave many hits such as Stuck on You and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Another major success in her life was when she was starred beside Will Smith in the lead role in the famous comedy Hitch. In her film career she has appeared in a lot of films like Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror(1998), Night at the Roxbury(1998), My Brother the Pig(1999), The Disciples(2000), Urban Legends: Final Cut(2000), Exit Wounds(2001), Training Day(2001), All About the Benjamins(2002), 2 Fast 2 Furious(2003), Once Upon a Time in Mexico(2003), Out of Time(2003), Out of Time(2004), Hitch(2005), 3 & 3(2005), Trust the Man(2006), Ghost Rider(2007), Ghost Rider(2007), Knocked Up(2007), We Own the Night(2007) and Live!(2007). Eva Mendes can be seen in a few up coming films such as Cleaner and The Women which are to be released in 2008 and The Spirit which is due in 2009.

Eva Mendes was again nominated by ALMA Awards as Outstanding Supporting Actress for her role in the critically acclaimed film Training Day. She was nominated as Best Actress by the Imagen Foundation Award for her film Ghost Rider. She was nominated by the Teen Choice Awards for her much praised roles in films like Hitch and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Eva Mendes also got a nomination at the Teen Choice Award for her role in the film Once Upon a Time in Mexico. In the recent times Eva Mendes has worked opposite famous stars like Joaquin Phoenix, Mark Wahlberg, and Robert Duvall in the film We Own The Night. She has also worked along with Nicholas Cage in the film Ghost Rider.

Eva Mendes made her appearance on the cover of Maxim in its November 2007 edition. She was also ranked 7th in Maxim’s 2007 hot 100 issues. Her naked pictured appeared in Flaunt Magazine. Eva Mendes is also spokes model for the 2008 calendar of Campari. The photographer of this calendar is Marino Parisotto. Eva Mendes also posed naked for the anti-fur campaign organized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in December 2007. Eva Mendes is writing a book named “Crazy Leggs Beshee” inspired by her nieces and nephews. Her hobbies are sports, music and interior designing. Among sports she loves biking, hiking, skiing and mountain climbing.
